WOLVES – SHEEP & THE DOG
Are you familiar with the sheepdog concept? Renowned author Lt. Col. Dave Grossman articulated this concept in a way that is extremely powerful to those who are willing to see it’s worth. The short version is this: There are three kinds of people in this world.
THE TREE OF TRAINING
I recently got to spend some quality time with my Mentor and Instructor Guro Harley Elmore.
Much of what I have written here is from his lectures and lessons.
“IN CASE OF EMERGENCY”
If you have been on a plane, you have heard the monologue. “In case of emergency, the oxygen masks will deploy overhead. Put your own mask on first, before assisting the person next to you.”
A FEW WORDS ABOUT LOYALTY
Humans are a unique and interesting kind of creature. They champion both conformity and individuality.
HELP! MY CHILD DOESN’T WANT TO FOLLOW THE RULES.
I had a great conversation recently with a mom whose child was having challenges staying on the mat.
TEACH YOUR KIDS HOW TO TALK TO STRANGERS
by Gavin de Becker, Family Safety Expert
It’s your worst nightmare. You’re in a crowded mall — shopping for back-to-school clothes — and you think you’ve lost your daughter.
WHAT IS BEST IN LIFE?
What is best in life?
In the epic words of Conan: “Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women”, right? Lets skip that last part, (for now) and focus on the first phrase.
GRIT: THE LOST VIRTUE
For those of you who grew up in the rural south, you will be able to relate to the way I was raised. Out in Nowhere, U.S.A., important lessons are learned every day.
THE POWER OF “WHY?”
I started teaching martial arts, because of it’s profound impact it’s had on my life. I want to share this experience with others.
G3: GOAL SETTING PT. 2
Now that you have your Goals from G1
The second part of the G3 process is developing your Gameplan or plan of action. A goal without an action plan is doomed to fail.
G3: GOAL SETTING PT. 1
Goal setting, when done correctly, is a powerful process that allows you choose the course and destination of your life.
WOULD YOU EMPLOY YOU?
Going through some old notes, I came across something I wrote down at a Zig Ziglar seminar from 1993. It stated, “Would you employ you?”
ARE YOU AN ARTIST
During a time of fellowship this week with my Martial Arts family, I was asked a difficult question. What hobbies do I have outside of martial arts?
Winning 24/7
So, you want to win. You want to destroy your opponents and claim victory. You want a gold medal, or a trophy, or a championship belt, and no one is going to get in your way!
Strong is a Choice Part 1
Strong is a Choice Part 1
As a professional instructor and coach, a big portion of my job is research. I am constantly researching better ways to teach, communicate, and develop strong leaders on and off the mat.

Pride Mixed Martial Arts Kid’s Program
We have been with Pride for a year now. Pride has taught him how to be ready for school, discipline, manners, and has helped him grow out of his shyness. He wants to work so hard to get to his black belt. I couldn’t express how much I love what Pride has done for him. The coaches have always been amazing and have so much patience with the kids.

I LOVE this place! All of the coaches are so knowledgeable, experienced and super friendly. They are so patient while I learn and have such positive attitudes all the time. I absolutely recommend for everyone, kids and adults to train here.

They are great with the little kids and make sure they understand the move completely before they have them demonstrate it. They are always on their level as not to seem towering and that helps my daughter to have that. All the coaches are great and this is definitely a family gym.
